I think the Taniwha is fake because the water coming from the river it could be fish or any else creature under the sea. Then all the story's sound fake to me as well but I feel this way because I don't think anyone has seen it before because if people even swim in that river the Tanware will eat it but it is not so that is why I the Taniwha is fake

Fair enough that you believe them to be fake, your reasoning for this makes complete sense. I've never seen a taniwha either, so I only have stories and mythology to go off of. But I think that my case is a bit different, as I am Māori, I've had these stories told to me since I was only little.
How do you think that the story of the taniwha came to be?
