  2. What is one thing that surprised you?
  3. What is one thing that concerned or upset you?
  4. What is one thing that you (or your family) can do, moving forward, to help protect our natural environment?

1. I learnt how to add and time with weights a kilo

2. I learnt more about the Maui dolphin because a female Maui dolphin is slightly older and it weights slightly more

3. Something that upset me was that people are littering too much and that upset me

4. We are probably going to stop using plastic bottle or utensils and use metal, silver or somthing

This was the last activity of summer learning journey and I was so happy to so this

  1. Hi Mehakpreet,
Looks like you had fun doing the Summer Learning Journey too! I hope you learnt lots. I like how you said 'that people are littering too much'
I think you are amazing because of how quick you completed it. I like how you put a photo of the summer learning journey.

  2. Kia ora Mehakpreet,

My name is Hazel and I am part of the Summer Learning Journey (SLJ) team. I’ll be helping Jordan out in Kootuitui over the Christmas holidays. WOW, I can't believe that you have already finished the programme! I'm so glad that you had fun learning all about the world around us.

I agree that people are littering too much, but hopefully by learning more about our environment, you have thought about some little things that you can do to help.

I hope that you will keep blogging over the summer Mehakpreet, and remember, you can also earn bonus points by posting quality comments on the blogs of other SLJ students.

    Hazel :)

  3. Kia Ora Mehakpreet,

Congratulations for finishing the SLJ 'The World Around Us' programme— but not only this, well done for being the FIRST student across all of New Zealand to complete the programme! I remember you telling me that you were going to be very busy, but I hope that you had other ways to continue your learning throughout the summer. I see that you've posted some personal posts as well, so I'll be rewarding you bonus points for each of these posts.
Like I've always said, you're a model student for Kootuitui and you've been a super star for this programme too. Well done Mehakpreet, we're all extremely proud of you.

I'm glad that this programme has taught you some things, especially about the Māui dolphin. If you were interested in helping the Māui dolphin, you could take a look at this link: https://www.wwf.org.nz/take_action/dolphinsnotmining/

What this link entails is the WWF of New Zealand attempting to call our government to action to stop industrial seabed mining on the West coast of the North Island, where the Māui dolphin live. It's important that we help protect their habitat, otherwise the remaining 63 could easily become extinct.

I'm pleased to read that you and your family are trying to do your part to help our natural environment, and refusing to use single-use plastic is a great place to start.

It's been a pleasure reading your blog posts Mehakpreet, and I look forward to seeing you at school for prize giving in two weeks time!

    Cheers,

    Jordan

    1. Mōrena Mehakpreet,

Kootuitui has been created to represent the cluster of Papakura... loosely it translates to networking.
And it has been a pleasure responding to all of your blog posts— I look forward to seeing your smiling face at Papakura Central School when I come in for prize giving :)

      Cheers,

      Jordan
